Original shaft with old repair and original black leather grip. An inexpensive example of Scottish Golf History. G-7 $95.

149.....26.....ANDERSON, JAMES, ANSTRUTHER, SCOTLAND:	A GOOD ANDERSON GENERAL IRON. An early General Purpose Iron circa 1870, the large head having a hooked face and thick hosel. The top of blade and hosel join are squared off indicative of early hand forgings. The hosel had long jagged saw tooth nicking which was trimmed when the shaft, bearing Forgan's stamp, was replaced. Anderson's tiny mark is faintly identifyable on the back. A nice example of Anderson's early forgings. G-6 $500.

149.....37.....FORGAN, ROBERT, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND:	AN EARLY FORGAN CLEEK. A nice circa 1880-90 long face Cleek, the head and shaft stamped "R Forgan & Sons, St Andrews". Head stamp is nearly "emoried" away. The hosel is 4 1/2 inches long with short saw tooth nicking and has a "Squared Off" top of blade and hosel join indicative of pre-1890 forging. Grip is an old original looking sheep skin. G-7 $275.

149.....50.....PAXTON, PETER, TOOTING BEC:	"P Paxton, Tooting Bec" on a circa 1898-1900 smooth face Iron. Grip is a sheep skin replacement over a period replacement shaft. Scarce! G-6 $275.

149.....51.....PAXTON, PETER, WEST NORWOOD:	"P Paxton, West Norwood" on back of a circa 1894 General Purpose Iron with a squared off top of blade and hosel join. According to Georgiady, Paxton was at West Norwood only during 1894. Shaft is an original with a period type replacement grip. G-6 $250.

149.....64.....UNKNOWN MAKER:	DREADNAUGHT MASHIE NIBLICK. A Giant size head. All original. G-7+ $165.

149.....65.....UNKNOWN MAKER:	AN OUTSTANDING GENERAL IRON exhibiting very little play; however, it does not have any stamps on the back (might never have had any). The head is characteristic Jamie Anderson c-1880 with long, heavy hosel nicking. G-8 $490.

149.....66.....UNKNOWN MAKER:	A good 19th Century General Iron in the John Gray style with large dished face and squared top of blade and hosel join. The hosel pin, barely visible, is high near the nicking also is an indication it is much earlier than the Clan and Ayers irons of 1890. Old sheep skin grip over old listings on a nice, original looking, hickory shaft. My best conservative guess is 1860-70. A nice addition to even an advanced collection. G-7 $850.

Outlawed in late 1930 since the "scoop" face was conducive to "Double" hitting the golf ball (a 2 stroke penalty!) Jones used an example of this club during his historic grand slam year of 1930. Andrew was on his own for only about the year 1900, most likely when this club was made. He made very few, however, well made clubs for select St. Andrews clients. His wooden head clubs are a RARE find and highly coveted by serious collectors. G-7 $675.
