LOT#...7.....RARE ALUMINUM HEAD PUTTER. Unusual RECTANGULAR shallow face aluminum head putter stamped "The AAA Putter". Jeff Ellis offered one in his 1996 Catalogue for $550. and stated it was the only one he had seen! I assume we can label this one RARE. G-7 $300-550

LOT#...8.....RARE LEFT HANDED RIGDEN PUTTER. Sometimes called the "Baffy Putter" with half the head Persimmon the other a full wrap around back and sole of brass. "Spalding Gold Medal" on both head and shaft. G-8 $400-700

LOT#...9.....RIGDEN PATENT PUTTER. Sometimes called the "Baffy Putter" with half the head Persimmon the other a full wrap around back and sole of brass. "SPALDING RL" on the head. Original stamped shaft. G-7 $400-700

LOT#...10.....UNUSUAL ALUMINUM HEAD PUTTER. Aluminum head mallet with wide "T" bar sight line and two RAILS, or runners designed to eliminate "Drag" while putting. This is similar to the Melhorn model by "Streamline". All original. G-8 $80-150

LOT#...11.....A SCARCE STANDARD "MILLS" PUTTER. A Mills "Z" Model Long Nose aluminum head putter C-1900. Head and sole stamps are strong, however, the top of the hosel has some very old whipping most likely covering a small hosel crack. Very seldom offered and even with the hosel repair, a nice collectible. G-6 $140-250

LOT#...14.....A SCARCE SLAZENGER MALLET. "Slazenger" in block letters on a circa 1905-1910 shallow head aluminum mallet with a cross hatched face. Shaft appears to be the original with a replacement grip over old listing. One hosel crack keeps this out of the "most desirable" class. G-6 $125-250

LOT#...16.....SCARCE TAYLOR ALUMINUM PUTTER. A "Mills" type aluminum head with "Model 'F'" and "10.14", signifying the weight in ounces, on the bottom. "J H Taylor, Reg. # 607239" is stamped above and below the unusual raised "sight" line on the head. There is a chip out of the hosel and a crack to the hosel pin on one side. Head and stampings are good, hosel is the only problem. G-5 $120-200

LOT#...17.....NICE YOUDS PATENT LEAD FACE aluminum mallet stamped "Spalding, Youd's Patent" on the head. G-7 $275-475

LOT#...18.....LONG NOSE VULCANITE HEAD stamped "UK Pat. 323897" on the sole and fitted with a STEEL SHAFT having a "St. Andrews Bend" See P-87, The Vintage Era of Golf Club Collectibles, by Ronald John (You can order this book through me). He values it at $750.00. The patent stamp on the bottom is very light owing to the fact that on Mr. John's example, only "Pat" and "389" are readable. $300-600

LOT#...20.....A GOOD SCHENECTADY PUTTER with "Schenectady Putter, Pat. Mar. 24, 1903" in large letters on the back. "Harry C Lee, Co., New York" nicely on the head. One hairline hosel crack makes this G-6 overall. $120-220

LOT#...21.....AN OUTSTANDING SPALDING SCHENECTADY with "AG Spalding & Bros." in script on the head and "NH" on the heel. The hosel is sound and the shaft is dead straight. G-8 $120-240

LOT#...22.....BRITISH MADE SCHENECTADY. A BOAT shaped Schenectady style putter acquired in England and presumably made there prior to 1909 as they were banned by the R & A at that time. The hosel has several cracks. Overall a fairly nice example. G-6. $90-160

LOT#...23.....A GOOD SCHENECTADY. A nice circa 1905-15 Schenectady type putter with hatched face scoring and "Tom Anderson, Montclair, NJ" on the alumimnum head. Original shaft. G-7+ $175-300

LOT#...24.....OUTSTANDING BENNY PUTTER circa 1930 with "Ben Sayers" in large block letters on the back. Sole has 17 grooves to "lessen drag" while putting. This rustless putter is all original with the grip being square. Shaft is stamped "Ben Sayers". This putter was made by Ben, Jr. to honor his deceased father. G-8 $90-150

LOT#...25.....RARE JACK WHITE PUTTER. "The Sunningdale Putter" below White's "Smiling SUN" mark. This highly collectible scarcity has a rectangular weighting bar on the bottom and a nearly 7 inch long oval neck with a distinctive "ridge" running up the front and continuing up the hickory shaft through the wrapped leather grip. This is similar to the "Shiva" model putters by Winton. G-7 $250-450

LOT#...26.....SCARCE LARD SHAFT PUTTER. C-1922-24 Spalding "RF" long hosel "Kro-Flite" blade putter with a "Lard" Patented 12 piece sectional shaft. The shaft is stamped "Pat. Aug. 15, 1922". Copy of the five page Patent comes with the putter. G-7 $90-160

LOT#...27.....NICE JUVENILE PUTTER. An all original C-1915 Putter stamped "Juvenile" in block letters on the head and "Putter" on the sole. This putter is only 27 1/2 inches in length. G-8 $60-100

LOT#...29.....A SCARCE MAXWELL HOSEL PUTTER. A flanged back "Maxwell Putting Cleek" with the hosel having four rows of three holes drilled vertically in the hosel. Rust was cleaned from the head. Very scarce! G-6 $80-150

LOT#...30.....A SCARCE RUT PUTTER. A scarce "The Mac" model putter with a short, very thick blade. Cochrane's "Bow Line Knot" mark is at the toe. Patent numbers at the heel. Shaft has a warp at the grip. G-7 $100-160

LOT#...31.....SCARCE J A WILLIAMS, BROOKLYN PUTTER. C-1900 "Metropolitan" rounded back blade Putter with an ASH shaft. Their "W" inside a "Diamond" mark is at the top of the hosel. Replacement sheep skin grip over original listings. Very seldom offered. G-7 $120-220

LOT#...39....."SPALDING SPECIAL" on a C-1897 SUPERB Brass head blade putter. The shaft is a dramatic golden ASH and is stamped "Spalding Special" below the old sheep skin grip. About as nice as they come! G-9 $325-550

LOT#...40.....J & D CLARK MUSSELBURGH BRASS PUTTER. C-1895-1900 compact blade Brass putter clearly stamped "J & D Clark, Makers, Musselburgh" and also boldly stamped "Tryon, Phila". G-7 $90-150

LOT#...43.....AN ORION PUTTER with the "James Braid" stamp. All stamps are weak. The hosel is flat as is the hickory shaft straight for about three inches above the hosel. The face has pyramid configured dot punches. G-5 $80-150

LOT#...44.....SCARCE PARK PATENTED PUTTER. An outstanding example of a C-1900 "Park's Special Patented" bent neck Putter. The stamps are nearly gone, however, this putter, with original "Wm Park" stamped shaft is quite nice and surely playable. Grip is wrapped leather c-1910-15. G-7 $110-175

LOT#...45.....SCARCE WRIGHT & DITSON PUTTER. "A H Findlay" and "Wright & Ditson, Makers 1" on a C-1899-1905 severely bent neck, wide sole smooth face putter. Original stamped shaft below a replacement buff grip. G-8 $80-140

LOT#...46.....PARK BENT NECK PUTTER. "Willie Park's Original Bent Neck Putter" remade C-1920 to satisfy the demand for Park's famous putter. Nice putter that is virtually mint. G-9 $150-250

LOT#...47.....A SEVERELY OFF SET PUTTER similar to the William Lowe as described and pictured in "Ellis" P-182. Unusual shaped head with the hosel extended to the blade. G-6+ $250-450

LOT#...48.....GIBSON ANTI-SHANK PUTTER. An outstanding Anti-Shank Putter with heel and toe weighting bulges and a crook in the hosel. Reshafted, otherwise it would rate a SUPERB grade. G-7++ $140-275

LOT#...49.....TWO INTERESTING ALUMINUM PUTTERS. One a Mills type stamped "Auchterlonie Special" on the head and having a replacement Spalding stamped shaft with a CORK grip, plus a "Hand Made" square nose mallet. Both G-7 (2) $80-160

LOT#...50.....TWO GOOD MILLS PUTTERS, both with "T" bar sight lines. "RBB Upright Lie" with sound hosel and good stamps plus a nice "RNG Medium Lie" with sound hosel. Both are G-7. (2) $90-160

LOT#...51.....TWO ALUMINUM MALLETS including an "AHP" by Spalding with sound hosel and a Mills with weak stamps, however the hosel is sound and would make a good play putter. Both are G-6. (2) $80-150

LOT#...54.....A J ANDERSON PLAYCLUB with dark stained beech head. There is a leather toe insert and a small chip from the face above the horn slip. The grip is Kid Skin. Very scarce and desirable. G-7 $1600-2500

LOT#...55.....FORGAN TRANSITIONAL PLAY CLUB circa 1890 with "R Forgan" above the POW "Plume" stamp a light brown Beech head. Shaft and sheep skin grip are in period replacements. G-7 $500-900

LOT#...56.....WRIGHT & DITSON SEMI-LONG NOSE. A Circa 1893-1896 Semi-Long Nose pear shaped Play Club stamped "Wright & Ditson" in small script on the head and in microscopic block letters on the shaft. Original grip is tattered, however, far better than a replacement. A SIGNIFICANT early American collectible, especially in all original condition except for replaced splice whippings. G-7+ $450-750

LOT#...57.....A SUPERB PARK BRASSIE stamped "Wm Park's, Patent, Compressed Head" with a small leather face insert as made and a full brass sole plate. An apprentice must have stamped this shaft since he used the same stamp (oval) for the shaft as he did for the head. The grip is virtually MINT and perfect! This club looks MINT NEW! G-9+ $700-1200

LOT#...58.....SCARCE SEMI-LONG NOSE. "Wright & Ditson" in script on a C-1893-1896 large, pear shaped head Semi-Long Nose Brassie with ram's horn slip between the full brass sole plate and the face. The shaft is stamped "Wright & Ditson" in microscopic block letters below the replacement sheep skin grip. A SIGNIFICANT early American collectible. G-7 $325-600

LOT#...59.....A RARE PAIR of Driver and Brassie both heads stamped "J & D Clark, Compressed, Musselburgh" and both shafts also stamped below replacement sheep skin grips. Both have leather face inserts as made. Willie Park held the patent for the Compressed head woods and these undoubtedly were made by Park and sold by Clark. The head and neck were "steamed" so the neck could be "bent" allowing the grain to run from the head, straight up the shaft. John Dunn's "One Piece", patented several years later, was probably copied from this principle. Both G-7. (2) $700-1100

LOT#...60....."CROSTHWAITE" BULGER BRASSIE. C-1900 Beech head Bulger Brassie with ram's horn slip between the full brass sole plate and the face. Andrew was on his own for only about the year 1900, most likely when this club was made. He made very few, however, well made clubs for select St. Andrews clients. His wooden head clubs are a RARE find and highly coveted by serious collectors. G-7 $600-1000

LOT#...61.....SCOTTISH GOLF CLUB MFG. "SGCMCo Ltd, Edinburgh" is on the honey colored TRANSITIONAL pear shaped head. Very old splice whippings may be original. Sheep skin grip is a replacement. SGCMCo was only in business from 1895-1898 and their clubs are seldom offered and highly collectible. G-7 $400-700

LOT#...62.....WALTER HAGEN CONCAVE FACE Sand Wedge. Some minor rust spots, however, overall a nice collectible with original long grip and plastic end cap. G-7 $350-600

LOT#...64.....AN EARLY ANDERSON CLEEK with partially readable tiny "A of A Circle" stamp. Old shaft has some whipping, most likely over a repair and the old grip looks 1890's. The head is made in the old blacksmith style and should be C-1860-70. G-7 $300-500

LOT#...65.....JOHN GRAY CLEEK. An outstanding, near SUPERB circa 1875 CLEEK with "Jn Gray" boldly on the back. 4 3/4 inch hosel has long saw tooth nicking. The top of blade and hosel join are square and the heel and toe of the blade are almost identical in depth. The replacement sheep skin grip keeps this from the superb class. A great club by one of Scotland's premier early cleek makers! G-8+ $700-1200

LOT#...66.....A RARE JOHN GRAY GENERAL IRON with a long, hooked, dished face and five inch hosel with saw tooth nicking. A patch of rust nearly obliterates the "Y" in "Jn Gray". A dramatic circa 1870's club with original looking shaft and sheep skin grip. G-6 $750-1200
